Welcome back to The Lore Daily  for a feature on the hazards associated with operating aircraft in extremely cold weather and the equipment and procedures used at airports to ргeⱱeпt ice buildup on aircraft control surfaces.

At Reese AFB, TX back in the 80s. They would take 2 T-38s and park them on the ramp tail to tail with enough room for either a T-37 or T-38 to taxi safely between them. The aircraft would then slowly taxi between these 2 aircraft while the parked T-38s would have their engines idling. The aircrew in the taxiing plane would have their O2 set at 100% while they went between the t-38s. This would Ьɩow all the warmed ice off the aircraft and any excess water. They would call this the “Jiffy Wash”
